DUALITY @ LISBON ART WEEKEND - DUPLEX AIR, LISBON, NOVEMBER 2022
Duplex AIR, where Lena Zak participated in an art residency program, served as an official location for Lisbon Art Weekend 2022. For this event, Lena Zak transformed her studio into a project space and presented an in-situ piece titled "Duality." This conceptual work included a 3D painting, sheets, pillows, chains, broken mirrors, bricks, and a "fragile" tape. "Duality" explores the artist's recent experience of divorce, the fragility of relationships, the feeling of entrapment within a dysfunctional marriage, the loss of a home, and the attempt to find balance, a yin-yang equilibrium within an experience that is simultaneously overwhelming and liberating. In addition to the in-situ piece "Duality," Lena also exhibited paintings she had created during her time at the Duplex art residency.
