DESTROY TO CREATE

An ongoing series of works, titled "Destroy to Create," commenced during the pandemic in 2020 and marked the inception of Lena Zak's ongoing interest and exploration of the paradox of opposites, significantly influencing her artistic practice. She began to examine opposing actions and forces not as contradictions but as symbiotic elements, where one's existence relies on the other. This research has influenced her painting practice, leading her to adopt a monochromatic color palette (black and white) and incorporate various destructive methods into the creation process. Selected works from the "Destroy to Create" series were exhibited during a pop-up exhibition Garage Takeover in Bratislava, group exhibition at the Holy Art Gallery in London, UK, and in a virtual group show hosted by the London Paint Club.
